Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between this tub and the DCT-B-042-SSPC-34 stainless barrel?
Both are 42" Pacific cedar barrel cold plunges with the same dimensions and chiller compatibility. The difference is the interior: the SSPC uses a 304-grade stainless steel interior; this model (PLPC) uses a high-density polymer interior. Polymer is lighter (220 lbs vs 255 lbs), less expensive, available in color options (grey or green), and easy to clean. Stainless steel is more premium, non-porous, and longer-lasting under heavy use. Both are solid choices — the right pick depends on your budget and how much you value the steel interior over time.
Can I use this tub without a chiller?
Yes. Fill with water and ice to your target temperature and use the included insulated cover to maintain cold. The polymer interior holds temperature reasonably well with an insulated cover in place. The hose connections are pre-installed, so adding the DCT Premier Edition chiller at any point in the future requires no modification to the tub.
What color interior options are available?
The DCT-B-042-PLPC-34 is available with a grey or green polymer interior finish. Both are the same material and carry the same specifications. Color selection should be specified at the time of order. Contact Aurevian Wellness if you have a preference before purchase.
Can this barrel be used outdoors?
Yes. Pacific cedar is naturally weather-resistant and the polymer interior handles outdoor conditions well. In freezing climates, drain the tub if temperatures will drop below 32°F and no chiller with freeze protection is running. Standing water that freezes can damage hose connections and fittings.
Is the polymer interior safe for regular cold water immersion?
Yes. The high-density polymer used in the DCT barrel is selected specifically for cold water applications — it is resistant to bacterial growth, non-toxic, and easy to clean. Regular water changes and, if desired, the addition of an approved water sanitizer will keep the water clean between changes. The DCT Premier Edition chiller's ozone sanitation system handles this automatically if a chiller is added.
How is the tub delivered and set up?
The tub ships via LTL freight or ground carrier on a pallet and is delivered curbside. At 220 lbs, it is the lightest of the three cold plunge tubs in the catalog — manageable with two people and a furniture dolly. No electrical connection is required for the tub itself. A drain or water pump is needed for water changes.
What does the warranty cover?
The tub carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Contact Aurevian Wellness for warranty support.
